Hello everyone!!  Everyone knows about the famous festival called Christmas and when we remember about this day,  two things strikes our mind.  The one is our Santa Claus and another one is yummy cakes.  We may remember that in our childhood days we will blindly hope that Santa will gift us at Christmas.  Those days are so good and pleasantable . Especially,  Plum cakes or fruit cakes are so important for this pleasantable day. Let's get into the recipe.

PLUM CAKE ORGIN :

Plum cakes are originated at Roman times as fruit cakes. It will be more likely as desserts and it was named as Satura. It consists of Barley, dry fruits, pine nuts with some alcohol and honey. And this became a best feast at winter holidays in England. Later it was named as plum puddings or plum cake in England. CHRISTMAS AND PLUM CAKES :

There was an tradition of maintaining fasting before Christmas. People used to be in fasting before their feast and they will have some good and healthy breakfast before the treats of festivals. The breakfast will contain some rich meat, oats, fry fruits and many more. To replace the meat and oats , eventually they added eggs and flour in place of oats and meals. And it was named as plum desserts or cakes. This plum cake recipe will be make before a week of Christmas. 


PLUM CAKE RECIPE :

INGREDIENTS:

•1/2 cup sugar 

•Hot water 1 1/2 cup 

•Dry fruits 

•Butter sheets 

•Butter 

•Salt 

•1/2 cup condensed milk 

•Baking powder 1tsp

•Baking soda 1/2 tsp 

•Maida 1 cup 


PREPARATION:

* Take a pan and add the 1/4 cup of sugar in it. Stir it well without adding water and it will starts to melt.  It will take some time to turn golden colour and then switch off the flame.

* Add the hot water into it and dry fruits too.  You can add any kind of dry fruits which you like.  Now again switch on the flame and stir the mixture well.  It will turn into thick consistency. 

* Leave the mixture for 5 minutes after switching off the flame. So that it can be sweeter. 

* Take a large pan and add 1 cup of salt. Place a small stand on the salt.  Now preheat it for 10 minutes. Meanwhile,  take a bowl and add 100gram of butter, condensed milk,  baking soda and baking powder. 

* To replace condensed milk, you can add 1/2cup sugar + 1/2cup thick raw milk). Mix all together well.  

* Now add the dry fruits mixture and 1 cup Maida. Mix all together.  It will be thick consistency. 

* Take a baking container and coat it with butter. Then paste the butter sheets with the melted butter. Now transfer the mixture into the container. 

* Place the baking container into the preheated pan and bake it for 40-45 minutes with low flame. 

                          Or 

* If you are taking oven to bake it, then preheat the oven for 10 minutes.

* Then set it to 180 degree and bake it for 40 minutes. 


Now your Christmas treat is ready to have.
